Graduation time for HS seniors, 8th graders

Shasta School eighth grader Kaylee Long was the recipient of the Outstanding Language Arts Achievement Award in English.

It’s a busy time at the Manteca Unified School District with the week filled with eighth grade promotions and high school graduations.

Several eighth-grade celebrations were held Monday at several school sites, including:

French Camp School

Sixty students were listed in terms of earning their promotion certificates to pave the way for high school.

Principal Rene Knapp, MUSD Executive Director Jenni Andrews, Coordinator of Data & Testing Jannette Price, Director of Emergency Preparedness Dennis Foster, Director of Student Programs Sherrie Jamero, and Director of Student Services Frank Gonzales were on hand for the presentation of certificates.

Eighth grader Sadielynn Gallardo led in the Pledge of Allegiance with Sofia Romero and Julian Rodriguez welcoming those in attendance inside the French Camp School Multipurpose Building.

Student speakers consisted of Presley Levitt and Gallardo.

Knapp and Vice Principal Gerardo Guzman-Rico were among those involved the awards presentation.

Shasta School

Ziqi Huang, Sebastian Rois, and Amanpreet Singh led the Class of 2024 during the special ceremony held in the school’s multipurpose room also known as the Hornet’s Nest.

They earned that honor by posting perfect 4.0 grade point averages.

Over 90 eighth graders were part of the special morning program consisting of the presentation of academic awards coupled with student speeches by Giyanna Giron, Brandon Burton, and Stephanie Campos.

Principal Katie Francis and Vice Principal Karen Corchero, who also recognized the 4.0 honor students, distributed the certificate of promotions to the departing classmates.

Sequoia School

Sabrina Garcia was the standout eighth grader at Sequoia School.

She earned special recognition for maintaining a 4.0 GPA during her both seventh and eighth grade years at the school.

Among those who kept up a 4.0 GPA during this past year were: Aleenah Campos-Marquez, Ivan Gallegos, Lauryn Gregorio, Adrian Hernandez, and Jessica Portugal.

Nearly 100 students were listed for the afternoon event in the school’s multipurpose building.

Principal Denise Buske welcomed friends, family, and special guests in attendance with Evelin Gonzalez Gallo and Rudy Nolasco following that up with the Pledge of Allegiance.

Student speakers consisted of class President Sari Lawson, class Vice President Luna Cardenas Brito, Barbara Marmolejo, and Jocelyn Saenz.

Vice Principal Megan Payne announced those who received Honor Medals while Buske did likewise with Academic Excellence Acknowledgements.

In addition, teachers Carol Bloomfield and Larry Cardoso recognized students who were recipients of the District Awards.
